ToysPlaymobil toys are a recent popular favorite in my house too. They aren't made in China either.
www.playmobilusa.comMy mom and dad found soy crayons the other day at Whole Foods Market...
www.clemintineart.com They are nice and fairly reasonable in price. They do break kind of easy, but are chubby enough that, that isn't really an issue. They also make Crayon Rocks and modeling dough.
Melissa and Doug's Toys are a lot of fun and their paint they use is Lead Free. We have a pizza set and a puzzle set that we like to play with. They have full compliance with the CPSIA. Check their website out at

I personally love anything to do with Thomas the Tank Engine!!! My Daddy recently bought me a 4 pack of books that came in a little carrying case. I love to line my books up and have my Mom and Dad read them to me at night for bedtime.
Anything to do with numbers is always fun too...
Letter Magnets for the fridge are great. Leap Frog sells a fridge magnet that you can put letters in and it announces letters and the sounds they make by identifying a word to go with the letter you put into the magnet. www.leapfrog.com
Mommy bought flash cards with numbers on them and we go through them together.
You can also request a catalog from Toys R Us that has toys in it designed for kids with special needs www.toysrus.comExcercise
My nutritionist suggested I start an excercise regimen to strengthen my core...
My mom got an excercise ball and I sit on that while I'm watching t.v. and go around in circles and try to balance myself on it. I like it a lot.
